Hi Mary, I have developed something along those lines that combines a couple of the Google tutorials and updates Google Maps Hack #63. I'll warn you, it isn't pretty but my hope is to build on it to do essentially what you're talking about: http://www.zgroks.com/ReadWriteMarkers.html
