We were experiencing issues with auto-thumbnail creation during the first week of March. The issue had been resolved. Are your users still experiencing this recently? The expected behavior back then was that the video thumbnail was shown as a a white triangle over black/blue background, indicating that the video is playable, but the final thumbnail is still missing. The <gphoto:videostatus> property of such a PhotoEntry should reflect that with the value 'ready'. With a proper thumbnail that would be set to 'final'. Note that depending on current load of our video infrastructure it can occasionally take several hours before a video reaches the 'final' state.
