As far as the whole gmail/everything in beta thing, i think it just
gives google an excuse to use its users as free beta testers. (as u
said) Which is a bit "Evil" (just so you understand that reference.
The google ceo announced publicly that google is a company that
strives to not be evil...) You are probably right about changing the
panes, but the fact still remains that the old interface was not
broken. Why screw with something if it works fine the way it is. It's
funny because the idea behind the new interface is actually a good
one. it just has very bad execution.

i would bring back the tabs to the top and make them drop down menus.
that way u keep the functionality of the maximized gadgets while still
working with an aesthetic layout.
i would bring the minimise button back too.
i would also make the buttons darker on their out state then become
lighter on hover (just looks funny with them the other way round)

wouldn't it have been nice if google listened to those in the sandbox
program and releases this new layout with all bugs fixed and working
100%. i think if that were the case it would have been a lot more
popular.
