When I want to translate from Tagalog, I do *NOT* think "Filipino". When I want to translate from Farsi, I do *NOT* think "Persian". When I want to translate Cantonese or Mandarin, I do *NOT* think "Chinese".
Why don't you show the REAL language names? There is no such thing as "Filipino" language. You could MAYBE argue for "Pilipino" but never "Filipino" — that is a nationality name, not a language name. Please put "Tagalog" and "Farsi" in the menu list. Perhaps the simplest UI would be to put the non-real names in parentheses: Español (Spanish) Farsi (Persian) Français (French) Mandarin (Chinese) 日本語 [Nihongo] (Japanese) Tagalog (Pilipino) Since a translation tool is also an education tool, its UI should be educational and accurate within itself. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "General" group.
