Israel produces more scientific papers than the whole of the Islamic world. Between the 8th and 13th centuries Arab science was in advance of the rest of the World. No more. The scientists themselves built the Weitzmann Insitiute. "Ein Backstein mehr" - another brick. People came from Europe with only the cloths they stood up in, yet their determination carved a nation out of the desert, a nation which the Arabs have not acknowledged the right to exist.
Compare "Ein backstein mehr" with the vast oil wealth flowing into countries like Saudi Arabia. The absence of science is not due to any shortage of money. What do we hear from the Arabs? Do they want to learn from Israel and catch up? No, they talk incessantly of jihad and their utterances are full of anti Israeli and anti Western rhetoric. This lies at the heart of the Arab tragedy. The Arabs appear to have looked inwards with an ever stricter and narrower interoperation of Islam. As I have just said "jihad" appears to be a substitute for any serious consideration of Arab society. Any country serious about Science would have different policies towards Israel (and the West as well). If Saudi Arabia is serious it should :- 1) Have better relations with Israel. 2) Stop looking for Israeli stamps in passports. 3) Allow men and women to freely mix and work toether, as is the case in Israel and most other countries in the world. 4) Stop going on on about jihad. Jail anyone who transfers money to the Taliban. Technologically the gap between Israel and the West on the one hand and the Arab world is getting wider, not narrower. Israel is developing "Iron Dome" which will intercept rockets in flight. In 2001 there were no UAVs in Afghanistan. Today they are a mainstay of the military campaign. As time goes on they will get smaller and more sophisticated. In the foreseeable future every square metre of Afghanistan will be under constant surveillance, the data being analysed by AI. Put that in your suicide vest and blow yourself up. You cannot win. GROUND troops will be withdrawn from Afghanistan fairly soon. Ground troops though are only one element. UAVs will not be withdrawn until there is total victory. There are also small tanks which can be controlled remotely. There is absolutely no chance of an ultimate Taliban victory. In modern war victory goes to the side which has technology. A robotic army cannot lose (except to another robotic army).. This fact should be remembered. OK I am off topic. Not completely though. In the US there is an annual machine translation competition. The Arabs are notable for their absence. OK Google has made some bad translation. I believe in more emphasis on grammar. Google is in fact not adverse to studying MOLTO. The Arabs are in MINA. Why arn't they participating more? They should demand to have Arabic in MOLTO and be prepared TO DO SOME WORK THEMSELVES. > > أخوكم أبو الزهراء الزبيدي -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "General" group.
