Dear Google:

I frequently translate Dutch words into English and vice-versa.

Afrikaans is a "daughter" language of Dutch and although the two
languages share a lot of vocabulary and grammar they are two distinct
languages.

The auto-language detect feature of Google picks Afrikaans when the
spelling of words between Dutch and Afrikaans match.

Unfortunately Afrikaans does me no good -- translations often differ.

I would like to suggest two things:

1) Be able to select which languages Google Translate will try first;

or,

2) Default all Dutch word (including Afrikaans) auto-detected
translations to use Dutch and not Afrikaans.

The reason I suggest this is that I'm guessing that far more Dutch
people make use of Google Translate than do Afrikaners -- I could be
wrong, however!

Thanks, Eric.
