My inspiration for this idea comes from peeping at a Moroccan friend's facebook, observing how he and his friends would speckle their Arabic with many words of French in their comments back and forth. I thought to myself "wouldn't it be lovely if Facebook had incorporated into its user platform a Google Translate bar? It would be a revolutionary thing--the ability to connect users to causes, groups, people, etc. past what were once linguistic barriers. This application of Translate on Facebook would also profoundly expand the ability of social science research in the linking of social trends situated in different parts of the globe".
I've suggested the idea to Facebook--what does Google think?
