Please look at my (Mark Schrader) posts on www.nataclub.ru/gb. All were make using Google translate and I am studying Russian, so I know at least a some of the pitfalls to avoid when designing the English sentences. I keep sentences short, avoid complex references, and rarely use pronouns. Yet I keep getting the feedback that I cannot be understood by native speakers.
Today 9/8/11 was the last straw, when a member requested that post in English so that he could understand me. After posting a long version of what I was trying to say in English, his reply was that he understood perfectly and: "Little advice: turn off the "autotranslator", it `s so lame, sometimes even ridiculous:) Good luck!". I am learning enough Russian to realize that even simple sentences are coming out strange. I am probably going to try SYSTRANNet's online tool for awhile. What bothers me is that Russian native speakers cannot understand even simple sentences translated from English. I am spending a lot of time designing sentences that can be translated and always translating in both directions as a check before posting. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "General" group.
