When translating brother from any language to Japanese, it will come up as simply "兄" which is older brother (other variants are included, albeit under a drop-down menu), unlike the translation for sister which shows the plural term (which is the standard in various East Asian languages since there is no exact equivalent). I suggest a better translation, which would be "兄弟/brother(s)".
Another similar error I encountered was when translating sister from any language to Korean; it shows "언니" which is just older sister. Korean utilizes the same principle of plurals since it too lacks a neutral word and thus "자매/sister(s)" would be more appropriate. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "General" group.
