Currently, robots are response oriented. They much respond to another event to do anything. A Cron job may be able to run a createWavelet or NewWave function without being added to a wave, but it is still an event which the robot responds to. In the future using cron or another timer mechanism to create a wave should be possible, and then with that instance, your robot should be able to move from there.
