Well, this change will take it from mostly working to mostly broken.

Given how much of a pain it is to upgrade the phone, I doubt many people
bother so it is likely to stay until people replace their old S60 phones.
And there are an awful lot of them out there...

I'm not saying this is a showstopper, but it should be a concious decision
rather than a side effect.
