Yes, currently in my project I have to use PHP on server side! The problem moving business object (or DTO objects) from php to the client using com.google.gwt.json.client to encode/decode is the tedius parsing of each type of object. If you have few it's ok but in large applications it is a pain. GWTApps in the Database Editor uses a generator to automatically convet JSON data to/from Java Objects.
