I know all about that.

The default (Standard) colours for TabPanel aren't too bad. Not dramatic,
but they are noticeable.

If the brightness varies, then it's OK. Not intensity of colour, but actual
luminosity. Anyone can spot that, even in greyscale. Big blocks of bright
colour aren't a problem either, but if there's a lot of 'noise' about then
it's more difficult to spot - i.e. small areas of colour anongst a pattern.
Also muted, different colours of the same intensity. 10% of men will have
trouble with red/green if they aren't bright. If you look at the colours
available for labels in Gmail, then on the 4th line, the first, third and
fifth seem very similar and wouldn't work to distinguish tab panels. As are
the 4th and 6th, and on line 3 the 2nd and 3rd. Which might explain why my
examples site makes things a bit more obvious for people like me :-)
