Thanks, I know, and I do (for GWT 2.0). The question is more targeted at the documentation, which says, we shouldn't use some of the old layout elements anymore (e.g. StackPanel), because they don't work well in standards mode.

In any case, the comment in the HTML file, that "HTML 4.01 Transitional DOCTYPE" triggers quirks mode doesn't seem to be correct. Quirks mode is quite different from (Almost) Standards mode.
