Did you figure out the problem with the outer-most DockLayoutPanel? Not knowing the intended design of your app, a LayoutPanel can create a centered region of a particular size, either relative with percentages or fixed. But, without some gymnastics it won't center something based on the final size of its contents. But for short-term entry like login forms, you might consider dialogs instead of sticking them in your main content area. In the end, whatever works best for your design, just note the caveats on using the table-based Vertical and Horizontal Panels in standards mode:
