worst decision ever to get on the maven/spring-roo boat. after 25 mins of waiting while maven is downloading after issuing "perform eclipse" for a basic spring-roo, maven stumbles with an error because JAVA_HOME is not properly set. after fixing that, "perform eclipse" works but the resulting project is in conflict with the Google Plugin and running the apps fails due to missing dependencies that maven apparently overlooked
