Hi, On most devices Update Device, and the other additional sync modes, are not supported because the device will send the correct sync alert code for those sync modes. This allows GooSync to correctly detect the sync mode from the device and take the appropriate action.
The GooSync clients are different in that they do not send the "correct" code for Update Device or Reload Device. The handling of these modes is done on the client itself (on Update the client will not send any changes to the server, and on Reload it will perform the deletes and send a slow sync command to force the server to send all its data). We believe the client developers designed the client this way to allow it to work with other servers that do not fully support the additional sync modes. However, this is not the cause of your "problem". The following is taken from the Sync Modes help page: *************************** The Update Device synchronisation mode is a one-way only synchronisation from Google to the device. Using this synchronisation mode will cause the device client to ignore all changes made on the device and will only synchronise changes and additions made to the Google Calendar down to the device. Please note that if this mode is selected on certain devices when a slow sync must be forced by the server (the very first sync or a sync after a failure), then the device can perform the slow sync equivalent of an Update Device. This means that a Reload Device will be performed, removing all of your device data and forcing the GooSync server to send the Google data to your device. In order to prevent this your device must be set to Normal or Slow for the first sync with GooSync or if a sync has previously failed. *************************** Please take note of the section explaining that a reload device will be performed for an update on the first sync with GooSync. This is normal behaviour for the client and something that will not be changed by the developer.
