** Using Kevin's steps I proceeded as follows ** 1: NOTICED INCORRECT LINK I realized that the posted link was incorrect: > deb http://software.thikgos.com/ gadgets main There needed to be an "n" in "thinkgos.com"
2: ENTER THINKGOS.COM SOURCE REPOSITORY I went to Synaptic Package Manager, then to Settings>Repositories, chose the "Third-Party Software" tab, clicked on "Add..." and entered the following line into the space provided and clicked "Add Source": deb http://software.thinkgos.com/gadgets main 3: PERFORM UPDATE I closed Synaptic Package Manager then used a terminal window for the following two commands (the second one may line-wrap on this forum): sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gmenu gos-gdm-theme gos-wallpapers gos-icon-theme gos-usplash-theme wbarconf gos-skel-gadgets 4: REBOOT & VERIFYING INSTALLED VERSION 4.1: Using a terminal window I entered the command "uname -a" which returned: Linux myusername 2.6.24-21-generic #1 SMP Mon Aug 25 17:32:09 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux 4.2: Using a terminal window I entered the command "cat /proc/version" which returned: Linux version 2.6.24-21-generic ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Ubuntu 4.2.3-2ubuntu7)) #1 SMP Mon Aug 25 17:32:09 UTC 2008 END So far everything seems to work fine, but the question is: Did my system upgrade from the Beta version to the Final Released version? Is there some place that I can look on my system that will specifically state that I am indeed using the released version and not the beta? I am not certain by looking at the numbers in step 4 if I am now using the final vs. the beta version. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "gOS Linux" group.
