Well, I wrestled with a similar problem when trying to install the
beta, only after I changed the DVD player in my system did I manage to
complete the install. before it also just locked up part-way.
If you have a 1GB memory stick you could try installing via that, if
your computers BIOS supports booting from USB sticks.
Also, if you are trying to install a "double boot" Windows/gOS system,
try checking the integrity of the Widows filing system, and
defragmentate the drive. gOS can lock up when trying to read a damaged
NTFS filing system, and can't reliably split off a partition if the
drive isn't defragmentated.
But you have the most chance of success if there are NO partitions at
all on the hard-disk.
What happens at 15%, does it just lock up? Perhaps it just needs a
very long time to continue.
