The vast majority of viruses are written for Windows because of so many security flaws in the MS systems. Linux on the other hand is much more secure and though there are a few viruses that float around for Linux the chances of you having your system infected by one is incredibly slim as even a virus needs your authorization too install itself on gOS Linux.
