Did you try installing the Screens and Graphics menu entry with the "main menu" editor in System Preferences>Preferences , and then trying to set the correct monitor and video card with "Screens and Graphics"?
Otherwise gOS will use "safe" (framebuffer) graphics, without acceleration, and the very limited "safe" range of resolutions and refresh rates of a "default monitor".
