Hi Shawn,

My experience with the laptop has consisted only of trying out different
versions of Linux
on it!! I'm learning Linux but realize the if it doesn't "just work" as
the distro loads
*it can be a nightmare* of looking online for support and getting
answers from a knowledgeable
source. Reading the forums yields suggestions like "you can /just
recompile the kernel/" and
the like. Sure, right after I learn how to fly!!

There are some basic tutorials out there, but it's a slow go on the
command line.
I've tried Ubuntu 8.10, Puppy Linux, Damn Small Linux and PC Linux OS. Only
the Ubuntu loaded up wifi and none of the distros loaded the webcam.
Yes, I tried "Cheese"
and got a blank screen. I attempted to upgrade to gOS 3.0 gadgets and
lost my wi-fi, for good
 it seems, no web cam
either. Have been loading all these distros via unetbootin + the .iso
on a USB stick. *Every*
distro hangs after installing and the prompt to 'reboot now'. They load
to various degrees
of functionality after that. I got a USB CDROM and will attempt to
install some of the
distros via that. I'd also like to see how XP looks and perhaps attempt
a dual boot system.

All that said, I like the laptop itself a lot. It's a very good value
for the hardware you get,1GB of
RAM and 30 GB HDD. It's not supposed to be your main computer and I
would not want
to sit down and type for an extended period, but for casual surfing,
checking e-mail on the road
and the like, it's great.

I hope this info helps.
