Well, as the different gOS versions actually have different drivers
(for your particular Video card) you can be sure the xorg.conf files
are not compatible. The Newer gOS just has newer drivers for gOS, as
VIA has finally decided to write real Linux drivers for their
chipsets.

I suggest restoring the original xorg.conf file, then using another
method to reach your goal.

Go to the "main menu" configuration option, and use it to add "screens
and display" (or something similar, I have no access to gOS this
moment, so I am working from memory), this program (visible in the
"extra's" menu section) can be used to select the actual video card,
and even more important, monitor you are using.

Also check the "hardware" configuration section to see if a non-free
driver needs to be enabled...
