"lspci" and "lsusb" list hardware connected to your pci or usb subsystems, respectively.
"sudo ifconfig -a" lists all the information about all your known network interfaces (of which your wifi card is one) "sudo iwconfig" lists info about any wireless interfaces it finds But you are right not to be too trusting of commands some stranger tells you in a news group or forum, especially commands that start with "sudo". Anyhoo, if you have an atheros, you should try searching the ubuntuforums.org site for "atheros". I'm seeing some posts from people who describe their problem as "my system sees my card, but i can't get it to scan for networks". Does that sound like what's happening with you? /t On Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 10:42 PM, StarchyPizza <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Okay, i didnt enter the commands yet...but i have an antheros chipset > built in laptop wifi card on my toshiba satellite l35 > > and what are these commands going to do > > the "lspci" sounds like it's going to list something, if so what do > you want me to show you > and the ifconfig i remember from backtrack, isnt it used to turn on or > configure the card? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "gOS Linux" group.
