you might run into the same problem.

gOS is based on a version of ubuntu linux which is already several
months old, and which has several updates. That's why, after the
install, you get prompted to install some 160-something updates and
then reboot your machine. Some (well, one at least) of those updates
is a kernel update (hence the reboot) and it's not impossible that
that's what breaks your wifi. It's easy enough to test: reboot your
laptop, and hit the esc key right at the very start (when it says
"grub loading..."). You'll get a list of kernels installed on your
machine - scroll down to the one that says 2.6.24-19 generic and then
press enter so you boot with the older kernel. Does your wifi work
then?
