But so far the question only was "why can't I view the contents of
the .ISO", normally all you have to do to view the content of an .ISO
is to double click on it, and it will open as if you had just inserted
the burned CD, its a standard feature of OSX.

Assuming caber has an Intel rather than a PPC based Mac, he should be
able to use the Live_CD as well.
If he can't get a good download, I suggest he buys a CD from one of
the many places that offer ready-burned Linux distro's. They are
normally only a few dollar. Still, beats me why he cannot just
download the .ISO.
