Sounds a bit like a GNOME sucks, gOS should have used KDE rant, but
lets ignore that.

Just like KDE gnome has a clipboarding system, and a whole range of
clipboard managers.
According to wikipedia:

you can use Klipper just as in KDE, (but it is not written for GNOME,
so it can be unstable like you said) because Gnome has basic clipboard
managing built in, but the default extended clipboard manager is the
Klipper work alike for GNOME called Glipper (you could have guessed
that) or the java based "Advanced Clipboard Manager".
