Hey guys.
When I install the gOS recommended graphics card driver, “NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (latest cards)”, I find that I am having a few issues... Firstly, the login box is displayed on the lower-right of the screen, part of which disappears of the screen (at this point the screen is not scrollable, like mentioned below) - in addition to this, once I am actually logged-in the on-screen image displays well outside of the physical limitations of my screen, forcing me to “scroll-around” with my mouse (this is despite showing the correct resolution in the “Screen Resolution” settings (gOS-->System Preferences-->Preferences-- >Screen Resolution) and the “Screen and Graphics Preferences” application (see below)! I have discovered though, that if I disable the recommended “NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (latest cards)” driver (mentioned above) and use the “nv nVidia 128 Riva, Riva TNT, GeForce, nForce...” driver, I don't have any problems – my screen stays at the size and resolution I set it (with regards to changing the driver, I have used the “Screen and Graphics Preferences” application, installed via “Add/Remove...” in the gOS menu). At this point, you're probably all wondering why not just stick with the “nv nVidia 128 Riva, Riva TNT, GeForce, nForce...” driver if it works? Simple – I want the Extra Visual Effects in gOS and they will not work with the “nv nVidia 128 Riva, Riva TNT, GeForce, nForce...” driver; they insist on the “NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (latest cards)” being used. Sure, I don't need the Extra Visual Effects, but I know that my computer has the grunt for this and Ubuntu 8.10 works fine with the recommended driver and Extra Visual Effects enabled (I mention this because gOS is actually Ubuntu 8.04, with gOS' own customizations to make it unique)... Here's the good stuff: HP Pavilion dv4-1041TX Entertainment Notebook PC. 14.1” diagonal WXGA, high-definition widescreen display, 1200x800. Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500 (shared) and a NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS with 256MB of dedicated video memory. Any ideas? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "gOS Linux" group.
