Oh, just one more thing, according to

wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fat16

Fat 16 won't support partition sizes bigger than 2GB, so I suggest
first splitting off a tiny bit of the first partition, then change the
split of partition file structure to EXT3 then growing it bigger as
needed.
