I assume you mean how to replace the kernel of gOS (based on Ubuntu 8.04) with the kernel of Ubuntu 8.10. That doesn't seem to be possible, at least not without expert knowledge and a lot of time. The new kernel probably will break a lot of stuff, and if you try to do the classic upgrade that is possible with Ubuntu you will probably end up with a broken system. gOS is build on top of a "long term stable" version, and it seems that is done for a reason.
