I think this could be an Western biased view. Why do you believe that Chinese users will be receptive to those kinds of messages? My limited experience suggests that, in general, they won't be.

I know that sounds strange, but China is a different world. I'm not endorsing what happened here, and I have no problem with people calling it out, but I'm fairly confident that strategery for and from the West isn't going to be a winning approach in China.
