Hi, It's certainly fine, in a legal sense, for Mozilla leadership to make either an ethical and/or business decision to remove a leader for expressing an idea that is either contrary to Mozilla political values or a smart move to eddy out of this negative publicity news cycle.
However, as Mozilla surely knows, for every action there is a reaction. Perhaps Mozilla will gain new customers, but they will also loose some. As a former customer myself, I don't like this method of bringing employees to heel for expressing their political ideas in the democratic process. It appears abusive, reactionary and intolerant of true diversity of thought. The right way to change a company or national culture is not to suppress contrary ideas by taking away a person's job who speaks out, but to convince traditionalists by education and compassion over time. The use of intimidation, force and raw power against "late adopters" of new ideas, in the name of tolerance, is contrary to how a healthy community should function. This sort of behavior is the number one factor that is now slowing the progress of true equality. Being gracious in victory to those who have been defeated is the noble way forward and I'm sorry that Mozilla leadership did not discern this path. _______________________________________________ governance mailing list [email protected] https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/governance
