Well there is are 'mass boycott's of a company's primary product' caused by CEO Mitchell's blog post and this 'certainly counts as a major problem -- they have to act'. Yet there has been no action and the blog post is still there, and Mitchell has not resigned.
A number of employees have contributed to a major problem and yet there has been no action. A large number of employees and members of the community have failed to abide by the participation guidelines and leave their issues at the door, and this is destroying the community, yet there has been no action. The fact that you have emailed this list shows that this is a topic that you care about, which is a good thing. If you are willing, please read https://medium.com/p/7645a4bf8a2. It shows that the story about Mozilla from the past two weeks is not as black and white as it has been reported. A company's CEO has to be its leader, and its public face. If a CEO's presence is causing major problems -- and mass boycott's of a company's primary product certainly counts as a a major problem -- they have to act. Brendan Eich decided the best way to act, the best way to serve his company, was to resign. You might think he made the wrong decision. You might think the fact that he had to make such a decision was unfair. Many Mozilla employees would agree with you! Here's a blog post from one of them: http://blog.gerv.net/2014/04/your-ire-is-misdirected/ Nick _______________________________________________ governance mailing list [email protected] https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/governance _______________________________________________ governance mailing list [email protected] https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/governance
