I haven't checked whether the quote is correct and correctly attributed (there have been a number of misattributed quotes in the news).
However, it seems to me that there is a large jump from a quote that essentially says "Oh gosh, Brendan is in trouble" to the conclusion that the board pressured Brendan in resigning. Also note that, once Brendan informed the board of his resignation, that same board attempted to convince Brendan to stay in another C-level position at Mozilla, which Brendan declined.
