We derived our LOINC hierarchy from the Regenstrief mulit-axial hierarchy<http://loinc.org/downloads/files/loinc-multiaxial-hierarchy/loinc-multiaxial-hierarchy-file/loinc-multiaxial-hierarchy-file/view> that I think Jim Campbell discussed with Dan Vreeman from IU/Regenstrief. We had to do some text manipulation to get it to fit the i2b2 hierarchy classifications, but the engineering curating on our part was minimal.
