We derived our LOINC hierarchy from the Regenstrief mulit-axial
hierarchy<http://loinc.org/downloads/files/loinc-multiaxial-hierarchy/loinc-multiaxial-hierarchy-file/loinc-multiaxial-hierarchy-file/view>
that I think Jim Campbell discussed with Dan Vreeman from IU/Regenstrief. We
had to do some text manipulation to get it to fit the i2b2 hierarchy
classifications, but the engineering curating on our part was minimal.

I re-opened this question about organizing LOINC based on new information from
Cerner. This seems worth a heads-up to all of gpc-dev.

Comment:

Nathan (Wilson), Hubert, we I notice the Cerner ontology (#58) seems to handle
LOINC differently. Would you please take a look and see if you think it's
something we should perhaps adopt?

Nate (Apathy), did Cerner derive that hierarchy automatically from something?
Or did Cerner spend engineering effort to curate it?
