I look forward to discussing this tomorrow Dan. For GPC intranetwork queries,
I have assumed that either XML or SQL renditions of i2b2 workbench queries are
the lingua franca that you and Russ espouse. Having responded to the popmednet
data characterization queries as a use case for PCORI compliance, and having
talked to Jessica about requirements for CDM V3 query response across PCORnet,
that does not seem to be what will be required of us.

Jim,

I wonder if I'm reading hte "Query Interoperation" slide right; it seems to
suggest that GPC is basing query interoperability on shared SQL queries.

Isn't the XML form of an i2b2 query more what we're using for interoperation?
That's what we've done for breast cancer, obesity, and (to a lesser extent) ALS.

I think of our use of SQL (e.g. in QA checks) as an expedient when we can tell
what the generated SQL looks like, so that we can, in some sense, run hundreds
or thousands of i2b2 queries with one SQL query.

Maybe it's not an essential distinction.
