James Topping replied to our question about enrollment dates and using
future appointments as the enrollment end date. I thought I would share
his response in case other sites are working through how to handle all of
the different encounter types from the EMR:

"Using the encounter based enrollment is fine, but if you have encounters
that do not actually represent face to face encounters (i.e. scheduled
visits), then that should be rectified—encounters should represent true
face to face encounters. If the scheduled visits can be removed that would
also correct your future date issue."

We take this to mean that encounter types like transcripts, future
scheduled appts, refills, abstracts, etc should be excluded vs having them
flagged as "Other" since they don't represent face-to-face encounters.
We'll be doing some more profiling to see how excluding these various
encounter types will effect our overall counts.

We also asked about doing a CDM refresh once our ETL/mapping issues were
addressed. James stated the following:

"Per the fixes and refreshing the datamart, it is true that there is an
expectation of the datamart remaining static between refreshes. However,
at this stage in the game, we are welcoming corrections, so you are free to
go ahead and make all needed changes. We have recently sent you a new
query per the process laid out by pcori that is due by June 24."
