Michael,

Argusconnect is currently engaged in a scoping exercise to address these issues of delivery. Andrew Magennis of HCN is privy to the issues under investigation, including:

    -    delivery of PDF, HTML, RTF
    -    encapsulation of any of the above files in an HL7 message
    -    automatic upload into any EHR
    -   presentation of all formats by all clinical systems
    -   uploading into Results vs Letters vs Documents
    -   whether the responsibility for data construction and conversion is the responsibility of the clincal system, or the transport provider.

Unfortunately I use Locum Only HTML and jpg are recognised in the Documents section.
I would need to convert the email to one of these formats for it to work for us.
With the help of colleagues here on GPCG, I can use Thunderbird, decrypt with
enigmail, place attachments into a folder, then if they are Word or rtf files
convert them to HTML and then copy them to the Scan Module which can then import
them into Scan Documents and match to a particular doctor. It would then come up
in the Doctors Inbox.
Currently Argus won't work for Locum as the Scan Documents section does not
recognise PIT files (The pathology section does it perfectly)
Maybe the enhancements for Argus in the future where it can be read in rtf (or
prod, prod HTML format) would help us.
If I cut and pasted the email, I could put it in the progress notes but I would
prefer correspondence to be in the Scan Documents section.
If there was a simple way of converting the text of the body of an email to HTML
or jpg, this would help us here.
Any ideas?

I've been cogitating of late (perhaps I should stop!).
If someone sends me a encrypted plain email with no attachments, after it

crypted, how does one incorporate this into the EHR?
Rtf, pit and word attachments can be massaged into the EHR.
What about plain old emails?

Michael,

One of the functions of Argus is to encrypt e-mails but it can also turn
them into PIT and wrap them in HL7, so that MD and a number of other
programs can deal with them intelligently to drop them into the Letters
or Results Windows, depending on how you've chosen and coded the things
you want. Specialists can use a Word macro to place letters into Argus
e-mail bodies to make use of this functionality.

Similarly, Argus can work with MD to send diabetes assessment
information to Divisions, in a format that allows it to be incorporated
into the Cardiab database. We've got a practice doing this currently as
a proof of concept.
