And of course the best escrow is 'open source'. Other escrow
arrangements can be very costly to maintain and legally complex.

companies are no protection - at all I may say (look at MIMS script or the
indemnity insurance disaster for example)
Ultimately trustworthy is however whoever puts the source code at least in
escrow, to be released automatically whenever the product is discontinued for
whatever reason.
