I support open standards. The Division doesn't have a position on it and the
bulk of staff including senior staff love Windows XP and Office 2003.

If they all walked in tomorrow to find *nix desktops with OO, Zimbra etc, I
would probably be out of a job.

I will get there though. As an organisation we have open source:

Web server with advanced CMS (Typo3)

Email server running Postfix with AV, Spam filter and web mail.

Zimbra server in test with 4 users. This will replace Outlook in the new year
once the major bugs are fixed. (They are moving quickly, so won't be long now)

I've nuked the unlicensed copies of Adobe Acrobat that seemed to pop up like
mushrooms. Replaced with pdf generation through Samba with 5 different quality
settings.

VoIP PABX

1 User with an open source desktop (me) + 2 who are willing to use and provide
feedback on things like OO.

Samba file servers at 2 locations + a Samba machine for backup using rsync &
scripts using tar

3 BSD based firewall/routers (m0n0wall) running IPSEC VPN between sites + MS
compatible PPTP VPN for a handfull of laptop users.

Although not understanding much of the above, our CEO often brags about our
"free" IT setup sitting in the mystical server room. At some point he will also
be bragging about our "free" desktops.
