Hi Ross,

I think you are looking for a printer driver that can convert a word doc
into text/xml file on the fly.

Try .....   Miraplacid Text Driver  http://www.miraplacid.com/mtd/ -
commercial product thou, have not come across any open-source version
equivalent.

It works perfectly as part of the secure messaging trial between
GP's/Specialist @ North East Victoria Division of General Practice. 

Eliminates the need of doing the manual cut and paste routine from
MS-Word/OpenOffice -> NotePad -> Secure Messaging System.

The developers will be happy to customise the apps to your specific
requirements ;-)
