Most software vendors perceive this as an advantage: you can hire (cheaply) a programmer straight out of Uni and they can be immediatly productive in an MS Visual-whatever development environment.

I'd prefer a software company to choose a database engine on its technical merits, of which MSSQL has fewer than most.
