import/export capabilities work both ways. If you as a software vendor are convinced your product is better than the competitors, why of course you would want standardized import/export facilities. I t would allow discontent users of other products to move over to yours. If however you know well you have a crappy product and the only thing that keeps your customers paying is effective lock-in, well then you would object and hinder anything import/export, wouldn't you?
