Personally I cannot think of anyone better than Ian Haywood. He has all
the attributes of a BDFL; thoughtful, informed reasoning and reasonable,
not prone to inflammatory statements and has proven a great willingness
to do the hard yards. I am happy to entrust the future of Australian
medical information systems to him.
Ian of course cannot do it alone and the others he lists should be part
of the supervising meritocracy. I agree with Tony that we need to wrap
up some model that can allows us to draw on other resources such as
objectconsulting or on one of the python houses.
The next step, up to the plate, is Ian's.

If Ian is available I would concur with this.
Were you thinking in terms of a hands-on (project manager) BDFL or as an
overseeing BDFL who recruits the team leader and consults with that
person on how to best spend our money?
Tony
