It goes to one of the fundamental issues in Health IT - it is still possible to practise with no computers at all. They are not fundamental, though to be without them for more than a few hours is becoming quite inconvenient. Indeed that is exactly what has happened in our pactice for a short time at least on several occasions. OTOH when the water or power went off we closed up The failover system is a pen and paper, and the Medicare clack-clack machine.
