Having always worked in a Mac environment, the concept of not billing electronically at the doctor's desktop is entirely foreign.

It came as quite a shock to discover how things work in the PC world when I went to work one day a week in another clinic.

The only purpose for paper that I can see is for the identification of physical things such as specimens, and for medicolegal reasons, giving patients all referrals on paper. Most patients in our practice know who they are - it's only the doctors who get confused.
