I've also got a Telstra card but have been having a better time than Jan by
the sounds of things (Sydney metro). I only use it when away from the office
and home, so don't rely on it for much. When I looked around at getting a
mobile broadband card, for my purposes Telstra's card had the competing
solutions bested by a fair bit.

I've found the latency acceptable (impressive actually) for rpd remote
access, but never wasted my time trying VOIP.

I have a timed plan ($29/10hours) which I think is pretty cheap and paid for
itself many times over. I wouldn't like to be on one of their data limited
plans however.

I've had no problems routing the connection from my Mac laptop to multiple
computers simultaneously. A few tricks required but pretty straight forward.

Coincidently, this card/service is the subject of a brief "first look" in my
forthcoming November edition. It started out as a fully blown review but I
had to butcher the article when Telstra announced their Next G service. I'll
be impressed if the network lives up to it's potential.

This and the rest of the November edition will be available online by weeks
end, with the hardcopy in practices next week.
