Health/Connect/ is a joint Australian, State and Territory Government
initiative which ultimately will develop a system of electronic health
records to improve the flow of information across the Australian health
sector.
NeHTA is a not-for-profit company established by the Australian, State
and Territory governments to develop better ways of electronically
collecting and securely exchanging health information. NeHTA is
responsible for establishing the standards and specifications for the
clinical data to be captured by eHealth systems. In the initial stages
of this initiative, NEHTA is focusing on developing national event
summary templates for high priority clinical information.
Referrals are one of 12 priority events currently under development by
NeHTA and Health/Connect/ SA is assisting NeHTA with the consultation on
the draft of the Referral Data Specification. The Referral Data
Specification contains the following data groups:

process for providing feedback about the specification, its suitability
for use and suggestions about implementation.
