The current version (6.10, viz. October 2006) sets up a LAMP server on install. Create a directory unpack WordPress, Mediawiki, OsCommerce or your favourite LAMP suite, set your permissions (e.g. www-data user, with read write access), configure through the web interface and you're away. I suspect there's not a lot of difference between the Mac and Linux installs.
