Horst is correct, 2.45 GHz is what cooks food in the microwave. I did my PhD on using microwaves to cook the heart (for therapeutic rather than culinary reasons). The amount of power applied and the design of the antenna is however a little different comparing the linksys to the kitchen. a Faraday cage is not necessary. You just need the door from you microwave oven between you and the source - if you are particularly paranoid - the mesh in the door is of the correct size to block the propagation. Like Xrays, distance is the best protection - Interesting to note that the cordless phones we all use at home are hte same frequency, ever noticed they dont work too well when the micrwave oven is on?

i have recently set up a wag54g linksys, and the instructions suggest

wireless is 2.4 GHz spectrum = microwave
impact on you cells is mostly heat if enough energy is transferred

20+ cm should be safe unless you are boosting your signal or use a high gain highly directive antenna
